IDYLLEREI24 Festival

Barrier-free arts festival

May 31 – June 2, 2024

Cultural workshop on AEG, Nuremberg

Where are the normal people?

In July 2022 we celebrated the first IDYLLEREI Festival. Next May we will be presenting inclusive art for the second time as part of a cross-genre festival in Nuremberg.

The venue will be the Auf AEG cultural workshop. There we expect guests from Germany, Europe and overseas with their works of art, films, concerts, theater and dance productions and lectures. We rely on a high level of artistic quality of international relevance.

With the question WHERE ARE THE NORMAL PEOPLE? In connection with the works, we also show biographical elements of the artists with disabilities, let them have their say and include them in the design processes.

A festival for art on the fringes

Everyone who perhaps works in the border areas of perception or in the border areas of what can be recognized or perhaps only imagined as artistic work meets here. The festival is therefore centrally concerned with the many phenomena and events that are not taken into account or even systematically recorded, that are not predictable and for which neither terms nor categories exist, and yet which we encounter again and again because they present themselves in some form or let it be imagined. We often find them in children's expressions and gestures, in spontaneous utterances, in the involuntary or instinctive and in dreams, just to name a few areas. We place this examination of the chaotic with subjective means (e.g. curiosity), the concentration on the deviations from usual perspectives or the error in the system (because this is precisely what is ultimately relevant to evolution) at the center of the festival.

Searching for clues between sum and being

Consciousness is based on one's own individual perception and experience, both of the self and of the surrounding world. If we add the traces we leave behind in life, then the two together create the narrative of a person.

That's why, in addition to the works presented, we want to examine the stories of their creators. That's why the focus of this festival is on the artists themselves. Not just their works, but also their biographies - or what we might think they are. What they might have experienced, what needs, wishes or goals they have and under what conditions they live, work and develop ideas. They should be allowed to speak fully so that we can get to know them.

In doing so, we will not only encounter other conceptions of reality or alternative manifestations of reason, but also more or less our own desire to correct the deviation from the norm, according to our respective influences and experiences of “education”. Encountering certain experiences of others also opens up, among other things, an opportunity to perceive one's own personality but also one's own inadequacy (which we have learned to cleverly hide in a complicated game of deception and masquerade). If we feel caught doing this, it amounts to a provocation.

However, if we manage - despite our own sensibilities - to open ourselves up to the life and work of a stranger, to accept it as if it were a precious thing, then we can use it to develop reasons for being here, for our existence. It is precisely the fragility of life courses, the failure on the chosen path or the pain we endure that bring us together through human stories, lead us to knowledge of ourselves and others, lead us to life and existence. We feel our common ground or even a common basis. Maybe even the reason to live.

The venue is the publicly accessible area of the Auf AEG cultural workshop with outdoor areas where possible. A barrier-free festival is created for people of all ages and societies on the stages, in the exhibition areas, in seminars, corridors and in the foyer.

The Auf AEG cultural workshop has been making an important contribution to the cultural offerings in western Nuremberg since 2016. It covers around 4,800 square meters with course and practice rooms, event halls and restaurants.

In addition to the Office for Culture and Leisure (KUF) with the Muggenhof cultural office, the KinderKunstRaum and the Nuremberg Music School, the Nuremberg Academy for Digital Culture and Performative Education and the Centro Español eV are also represented with their premises.

Groups and artists from Germany, Europe and the USA are invited to participate. We expect all possible forms of art and creative expression in the form of images / objects / installations, theater, performance, music, lectures, films, dance and movement, conversations and discussions, food and drinks.

The planning, preparation and implementation of the festival takes place with the group from the art space IDYLLEREI.

The organizer is WerkStadt Lebenshilfe Nuremberg.

Event duration: May 31st until 2.6.24

A festival for art on the edge

This is the meeting place for all those who perhaps work in the marginal areas of perception or in the marginal areas of what can be recognized or perhaps even only guessed at as artistic work. The festival is therefore primarily concerned with the many phenomena and occurrences that are not observed or even systematically recorded, that are not predictable and for which neither concepts nor categories exist, and yet which we encounter again and again because they can be represented or imagined in some form. We often find them in the expression and gesture of children, in spontaneous utterances, in the involuntary or instinctive, and in dreams, just to name a few areas. This investigation of the chaotic with subjective means (e.g. curiosity), the focus on the deviations from habitual ways of seeing or the error in the system (for it is precisely this that is ultimately relevant to evolution) is what we imagine the central idea of the festival.

In search of traces between sum and being

Consciousness is based on one's own individual perception and experience, both of the self and of the surrounding world. If we add the traces that we leave behind in life, then both together form the narrative of a person.

Therefore, in addition to the works presented, we want to explore the stories of their creators. That is why the artists themselves appear at the center of this festival. Not only their works, but also their biographies - or what they might want us to think. What they might have experienced, what needs, wishes or aims they have and under what conditions they live, work and develop ideas. They should be allowed to have their say in a comprehensive way so that we can get to know them.

In doing so, we will not only encounter other conceptions of reality or alternative manifestations of reason, but also, more or less, our own desire to correct the deviation from the lanes of the norm, according to our respective imprinting and experience of "education". For the encounter with certain experiences of others opens, among other things, an offer for the perception of our own personality but also of our own inadequacy (which we have learned to hide skillfully in a complicated game of deception and masquerade). If we feel caught in the process, this is tantamount to provocation.

However, if we manage - despite our own sensitivities - to open ourselves to the life and work of a stranger, to accept it as if it were a treasure, then we can derive from it reasons for being here, for our existence. It is precisely the fragility of life courses, the failure on the chosen path or pain suffered that lead us together through human stories, lead us to the knowledge of ourselves and of others, lead us to life and to existence. We sense our common level or even a common ground. Maybe even the reason to live.
