Thomas Oram

Born 1990 in Bath, Somerset (GB)

(English version below)

Thomas Oram focuses on human nature in his work. The figures in his pictures seem to be in strange situations - their limbs unnaturally twisted, their proportions shifted - but they are consistently inactive. They don't pose and they don't do anything. His characters could be described as idle, useless or out of place, as they serve no purpose whatsoever. Perhaps they come from the realization that the greater the effort, the more futile the effort. In this way, he takes us from the hectic present into an existence without stress and fear.

Thomas' pictures were purchased by various companies and institutions and were part of the projects “Approaches” of the Faculty of Education at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg (documented by Tobias Loemke, Nuremberg 2014) and “Human Rights” of the bfw Nuremberg (documented by Mario Kreß, Nuremberg 2014 ), 2015 participation in the international exhibition “Fading Memory” in Weißenohe (catalog Krakow 2015) and in the Outsider Art Fair in New York 2023.

born in 1990 in Bath, Somerset, UK

Thomas Oram's work focuses on the human condition. The figures in his paintings seem to be in strange situations - limbs unnaturally twisted, proportions displaced - but at the same time they are consistently inactive. They are not posing, nor are they engaged in any occupation. His characters could be described as idle, useless, or out of place, serving no purpose whatsoever. Perhaps they stem from the realization that the greater the effort, the more futile the endeavor. In this way, he transports us from the hectic present to an existence free of stress and anxiety.

Thomas's paintings have been purchased by various companies and institutions and were part of the projects "Approaches" of the Faculty of Education of the FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg (documented by Tobias Loemke, Nuremberg 2014) and "Human Rights" of the bfw Nuremberg (documented by Mario Kreß, Nuremberg 2014), in 2015 he participated in the international exhibition "Fading Memory - Vom Schwinden der Memory" in Weißenohe (catalog Krakow 2015) and in 2023 at the Outsider Art Fair in New York.
