About Us

The studio

Kunstraum IDYLLEREI offers jobs for professional artists with intellectual disabilities. All people with a recognized disability can try out working at the IDYLLEREI and work there later. Newcomers should be enthusiastic about artistic work and have an interest in creative work. All artists receive the materials they need, professional help and a protected space in which to implement their own, independently developed ideas and projects. The resulting works are offered for sale at exhibitions and trade fairs and of course in the Nuremberg studio. The IDYLLEREI takes part in art competitions and receives design commissions from companies and institutions in the region to design offices and develop and implement exhibition concepts.

The IDYLLEREI is a work area of the WerkStadt Lebenshilfe Nuremberg, a workshop for people with intellectual disabilities in the association of German Lebenshilfe associations. The studio was started by Christian Vittinghoff in 2011 when he returned to Germany from the Skåne (S) art center, where he had worked for several years. In 2013 he invited Lutz Krutein to lead the growing studio as a partner. About 20 people regularly work in this visual arts space.
